We are pleased to announce that the review of our Progression qualifications is now complete and the refreshed Suite is to be launched in the summer. Our Progression qualifications have been highly valued and we wanted to ensure that they remain reflective of the modern world and continue to deliver value to a new generation of learners, while remaining easy to use for our centres.
Refreshed Progression qualifications
We had discussions with our centres about our Progression qualifications suite and the individual units and asked for their views on how to make these more up-to-date and ensure they continue to deliver value. We received really constructive feedback from our centres and would like to express our thanks to everyone who took the time to participate in these discussions.
We undertook thorough research, analysing our data and the feedback we received from our centres. We looked at each unit as well as the overarching purpose of the Progression suite and created a streamlined, up-to-date set of qualifications that can successfully prepare learners for the next stage of their learning journey. The majority of our units were found to be robust and fit for purpose, however, the review resulted in some units being removed, some amended and some replaced. Rules of combination removed
Following consultation with our centres, we decided to remove the strict rules of combination. This offers greater flexibility for our centres and learners to create learning programmes that meet individual needs. Centres no longer have to include ‘core’ units in courses. Any units from the qualification can be included provided the correct number of credits at the correct level are included.
Next steps and key dates
The refreshed suite of Progression qualifications will come into effect on 1st July 2022. Registrations for units that are being replaced will remain open until 31st January 2023. Existing qualifications will remain open for those already registered on them. Any learners who are registered on or have completed units that are being replaced will be awarded the new unit as an equivalent. This means that their achievement of the qualification will be unaffected.
