LASER’s ‘Enhancing Employability’ qualifications are offered in two sizes (Award or Certificate) and at two levels (Level 1 and Level 2, with some units of assessment available at Entry 3 – accommodating a ‘spiky profile’). The qualifications lend themselves to both pre-employment training and the accreditation of work experience, focusing on the development of employability skills relevant to vocational employment. These qualifications are ‘nested’ qualifications (i.e. credits achieved for an Award can contribute towards achievement of a Certificate etc – where there is an overlap between the qualifications at unit level).
They are available to learners aged 14 years or older. The recommended number of guided learning hours is between 54 and 109 hours, depending on the qualification and units chosen. Learners are assessed in terms of whether they have met the assessment criteria specified in the units of assessment, and are required to collate a portfolio of evidence. These qualifications were previously known as qualifications in ‘Developing Skills for Employment’.
