This suite of ‘Education and Training’ qualifications are the recognised teaching and training qualifications for the Further Education and skills sector in England. Available to those aged 19 years or older.
The Education and Training Foundation assumed responsibility for the guardianship of the Professional Standards in Teaching. LASER’s Award, Certificate and Diploma in Education and Training are suitable teaching qualifications for teachers, tutors and trainers working in further, adult or community education or work-based learning. These qualifications are available to practitioners aged 19 years or older. Candidates must be in a position to undertake the minimum number of hours of teaching practice required if studying the Certificate or Diploma (micro-teach sessions are possible for the Award). Full teacher status is only conferred by the Certificate or the Diploma. The recommended number of guided learning hours is between 48 and 530 hours, depending on the qualification and units chosen. The qualifications are assessed in terms of whether candidates have met the required standard in their practice/microteach sessions, and met the assessment criteria specified in the units of assessment.
